The tile look refreshes the Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 look: Microsoft is consistently implementing the well-known Metro look in Office 2016 as well. The “Modern Style UI” ensures a tidy-looking new design in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook. The interface is white, but each application has its own color code. The colors, discreetly used, are based on the predecessor: Word is blue, Excel is green, PowerPoint is red, and so on. The menu bars look angular, but also have a more generous design, with more space between the individual buttons.
The user interfaces of the individual applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) look very structured, the first impression is consistently positive. By default, the ribbon named Ribbon is disabled; instead, the familiar categories File, Edit, View, etc. are displayed in a narrow bar at the top. Your content will be unfolded by clicking on a small arrow icon in the top right corner next to the menu bar. All in all, the Metro interface looks surprisingly good in all office applications, everything is clear and intuitive.
